October 2025:
Dr Jonathan Clinch has recorded Robert Saxton’s major new organ cycle ’The Reckoning of Time’ and began monthly releases of the ten movements in September 2025 on Youtube and Spotify. December’s movement, ‘Winter Solstice’, will be released on Sunday 21 December. ’The Reckoning of Time’ is a collaborative research project supported by the Royal Academy of Music, London, looking at the new compositional possibilities of digital instruments using Hauptwerk software and sound files from the organ in the Annakirche, Duren, in Westphalia, Germany. The title is taken from the writings of Bede, the eighth century English monk and historian, in which he addressed the matter of the organisation of the church year and its cycles in astronomical/mathematical detail. ’The Reckoning of Time’ is designed for liturgical and concert performance as individual pieces, in groups, and as a complete cycle.
